Winning the toss, Zalmi United elected to Bat First on a cold and windy morning.
First wicket of Zalmi United went down early on the score of 16, which brought in the in-form Hamza Abbasi in the middle. Together with Salman, who scored 40 in 38 balls, Hamza laid the foundation scoring his second consecutive 50, 67 in 55 balls.
At a time when Zalmi looked to score big yet again, Young Stars bowlers bounced back restricting the scoring and taking timely wickets. Noteworthy of these were Aftab who took 2/37 and Sohail who took 2/33. Last wicket partnership between ZA Shah and Nawab of 35 runs added some useful runs on the board, giving Young Stars a teasing target of 234 runs to win.
Mehtab Ahmed, who took a career best of 6/34 in 7.3 overs did not allow Young Stars’ batsmen to stand a chance chasing the target. He was well supported by Yasir Ch. who took 3/24 in his 8 overs, and Nawab chipping in with a wicket as well.
Only resistance shown was by Young Stars’ Captain Saif who scored 52 in 41 balls, Usman 39 in 32 balls and Aftab 31 in 45 balls.
Young Stars were thus restricted to 176 in 29.3 overs giving Zalmi United a win by 57 runs with 10.3 overs to spare.
Man of the Match was awarded to Mehtab Ahmed for his excellent bowling.
