EMERALS ASHES WON THE MATCH BY 37 RUNS
On Friday, the 20th of January, at KCC #15, Khobar Blasters CC came in all set to take on Zalmi United CC and to continue their exemplary winning run. KBCC were well prepared to execute their 5th consecutive win in 6 matches.
The match kicked off with KBCC winning the toss and electing to bat. The opening duo of Anfin and Riyas kept the scoreboard ticking at a reasonable rate before the team lost Anfin in the 4th over. Came in, KBCCs master blaster, Kiran Kumar, in the most sensational form of his career, to again build on a big innings as he always does. Irrespective of wickets falling at the other end, Kiran kept the scoreboard moving with his regular boundaries and exceptional running between the wickets. Kumar Das (26) supported well to build a much needed partnership with Kiran, who in due course, completed his 4th century (108 off 90 balls) of the tournament. He was very unlucky to get out trying to up the scoring rate and eventually fell in the 35th over. Ultimately, KBCC ended their innings for 223/10 in 38.4 overs credit to some good bowling by the ZUCC bowlers.
Though the score seemed modest to chase down, KBCC held confidence that the game could be won by the bowlers and exceptional fielding efforts which has been the core of the team. ZUCC were off to an amazing start with Yasir (45) and Saddam (45) taking the score to 99/0 in 14 overs, well set to win the game in no time. KBCC, however, had other plans with Anfin coming in and picking the wicket of Saddam breaking the partnership, depriving the duo of a century stand. The very next ball, Kumar scalped Yasir, depriving both batsmen of their 50s. KBCC then took charge with an impressive comeback by taking regular wicket through some exceptional bowling and fielding; ZUCC witnessing another exceptional bowling performance from the Blasters as was faced by their predecessors. KBCC kept up the reputation of breaking down batting orders by ultimately, scalping Syed Qamar who stood defiant in the middle and pretty much got close to taking the match away. In a very tense finish with ZUCC requiring just 11 from 5 overs and 1 wicket remaining, an excellent running catch by Arafath Hashim, off Jiby, ZUCC were bundled out for 212 in 35.1 overs. Scalps by Kiran (4), Kumar (2). Anfin (1), Kahab (1), Jiby (1) and Arafath (2 catches and a run out) were exceptional during this defense of an arguably modest total.
Khobar Blasters won the game by 11 runs. Kiran Kumar was once again the very deserving Man of the Match, his 4th in 6 matches, for his scintillating all-round performance with a century (108) and 4 wickets
Bilal Shabbir Scored 103 Off 48 Balls
Omar Imiyaz Took 3 Wickets
It was a cold Friday morning and Khobar Blasters CC. were all thumbed up and determined to pull up their sleeves for their 4th victory out of 5 matches . The toss was won by Khobar Blasters who elected to bat first. The openers, Jiby Mathew and Anfin gave a good start putting up 64 on the scorecard before Jiby was caught out for 24 in a good one-handed catch by Sohail. Came in the in-form Kiran Kumar all set to stay and score big starting off with two well timed boundaries. But KBCC soon lost Anfin (31), followed by last game half-centurion Shamnad (13) Tariq (21) and Ajmal (11) trying to raise the scoring rate. Kiran kept one end strong with his solid and classy batting. He was then joined by Elyas (23 n.o) who teamed up with Kiran (95 n.o) and ensured no more wickets were lost and finished the innings with a 6th wicket partnership of 73 runs at 263/5 in the allotted 40 overs.
Going in to bowl with a reputation of crashing through reputed batting orders, KBCC were determined to repeat the feat here as well. Tariq, with his excellent pace and bounce took 4 wicket while medium pacer Kumar took 2. Saipem secured a convincing 9 wickets win in their first match against Royal Kashmir
Match details as follows,,,,,
Early December morning ……cold as it can get with chilled wind freezing anything that it touches…….the only warmth you could feel was in Team Saipem Boiz warming up to take on Royal Kashmir for their first game in Al Markab Main League 2016-17.
It was suppose to be a 40overs contest where both teams bat out a maximum of 40overs but Team Saipem had other plans in mind…….guess it was plan C.
Winning the toss Team Saipem put Royal Kashmir in to bat first. The team brief was quick with Skipper Nishant saying ” Boiz Its cold let’s finish this quick” the instructions were simple no mercy, no retreat let’s do this Saipem way!!
Sarwar Khan was entrusted with the new ball and the call paid off in the very first over as he removed Royal Kashmir opener Junaid. Sharing the new ball at the other end was Mujtaba A.K.A Sunny!! In the winter cold, sun was up but without any warmth or shine……instead it was Sunny who actually shined with removing the other opener in his first over. Sarwar gave Royal Kashmir no chance to regroup by striking again leaving opposition 3 down for just 21 runs.
Shoaib and Yasir tried to stabilize Royal Kashmir Inngs but just when a crucial partnership was building Saipem vice captain Rajeesh Ahmed removed Yasir with deceiving flight and turn. Rehman in his amazing spell of 5 overs gave only 15 runs claiming 3 wickets, ensuring no further potential partnerships to build. Rashid bowled exceptionally well and kept flirting with batsmen’s outside edge by bowling just outside off stump line. Mutti and Akhtar gave good support at the other end. The only considerable resistance from Royal Kashmir was show by Shoaib who worked his way to a well struck 50 under pressure but was eventually trapped by Rajeesh Ahmed who claimed 3 wickets in the match. The passion and flair in Saipem bowling attack wrapped up Royal Kashmir Inngs to a below par total of 189.
Saipem was required to score 190 runs in 40 overs to win. Skipper Nishant went in with Rehman who was already having a good day claiming 3 wickets. Rehman is generally the dominant one in any pairing but then again this day was anything but general. Nishant started sending the ball over the boundary rope from the word go. Playing all sorts of shorts to all parts of ground. From smashing cuts to elegant drives, stunning pulls to stylish and wristy flicks and just when you felt you have seen it all he kept on amazing by hitting a reverse sweep for six. By lunch Saipem was already 70 for nil. Rehman after lunch took over from Nishant and completely dominated Royal Kashmir bowlers. In a particular over bowled by Yasir, Rehman went on to hit 5 consecutive fours.
Nishant and Rehman constructed a massive watch wining partnership of 189 runs. Just when the scores were leveled and Saipem required only 1 run to win Rehman fell after thrashing 75 runs off just 35 balls. Nishant at this stage was unbeaten for 107 runs off 70 balls. In comes Pramod to face just one ball which he elegantly hit away for four to complete a convincing win by 9 wickets in just 17. 4 overs.
Saipem secured a convincing 8 wickets win in their third match against Team Arabia
MOM-Sarwar Khan Arman Khan (82* runs on 44 balls& 4 overs 19 runs 1 wicket)
Match details as follows,,,,,
Behold….!! For I tell you the story of desert cold and the winter wolves.
They say it was the cold of winter that brought the wolves pack to the hunting grounds. Living and hunting in packs their strength was in their unity.
Once they set their eyes on a prey they would maneuver at lightning pace, every member of the pack had a role to play and before the prey could sense danger may be near!! it was all but over…….
Story of Team Saipem playing Al Markab Main League 2016-17 is no different then that of the tale of cold and the winter wolves. After a rough last week, Pack of Saipem was back to the hunting grounds of KCC-4 which they call home.
Winning toss Saipem put Team Arabia in to bat first, the hunt was on!! After what looked like a promising start 44/0 by Alex and Nafzal…..Mutti and Sarwar struck in quick succession sending both openers back to pavilion. Team Saipem found an opening and before the opposition could realize danger may be near!! It was all but over…..
In the absence of Skipper Nishant, VC Rajeesh Ahmed was leading the pack and did a wonderful job. It appeared to be the perfect day for him what ever he touched turned into gold……who ever was brought into attack struck and struck hard. Every member had a role to play just as the winter wolves. Mutti, Sarwar, Rajeesh, Abdual Rehman all claimed a wicket. But it was left arm spinner Akhtar who run through Team Arabia middle order and took 3 crucial wickets. For Team Arabia Nibu showed a lot of courage and character by hanging in there when wickets crumbled at the other end but he soon ran out of partners. Asim, who bowled with great line and length struck twice in 2 balls to bring Team Arabia Innings to an end in just 23.4overs scoring 136runs only.
Team Saipem’s openers came out with a mission and it was to end all as quick as they can. Though Nikesh struck early for Team Arabia claiming 2 wickets but Sarwar and Ameen made sure that must remain about it and removed all hopes if there were any in Team Arabia’ camp of further fortunes. Where Ameen scored 29 not out ensuring no further surprises, Sarwar scored an unbeaten 82 runs off just 44 balls hitting 16 piercing fours (16×4) making sure it was all over in a flash. Saipem won by 8 wickets chasing down 137 in just 13.3overs. Another convincing win for Team Saipem this winter or one may say a show of total dominance just as the winter wolves……
