April 14th 2017, the match was schedule to be played in the afternoon. It was a super-hot day. The toss as usual won by Captain Imran Sayed and elected to bat. Eastern Arabia Openers Surjith and Niyaz went it to bat. Bin Delma CC known for its strong bowling and batting line up were playing with 4 pacers and 1 spinner. Bin Delma pacers right from the first ball were bang on target injuring the hard hitter Surjith right on target and sending him out injured. Bin Delma had the power play to their account. But Niyaz and Captain Imran kept their cool and continued scoring. Niyaz Ahmed played the anchor role and scored easily finding gaps and getting those boundaries as and when required. Niyaz scored 53 and Captain Imran Sayed scored 20 runs. The middle overs were controlled by Naushad and Afwan who took quick runs and showed their fitness converting 1’s to 2’s and 2’s 3’s. They both put up a partnership of 47 runs in just 22 balls. The finishing touch were giving by Shijil 22 runs in 8 balls and a the final over by Ashraf Mukka with a reverse sweep match winning 4 which was a surprise to Bin Delma cc. The team scored 192/8 in 20 overs.
Bin Delma had to chase 193 in 20 overs which was easy target to chase in Highway 8. As we all know Highway 8 is a paradise for scoring runs. Bin Delma a team filled with star players who could have chased this target easily. Bilal Shah and Renjith two dynamic duos were sent in to bat. Bin Delma lost their main batsman Bilal Shah in the very first over who went for a wild swing for the swinging leg break of Ashraf Mukka. Renjith was joined by Abdul Hannan. They both kept the score board ticking and Renjith went on playing his shots and the target looked easy for Bin Delma now. Captain Imran had to think outside the box to get this partnership broken. Injured Surjith was introduced and he stood up to the task of getting Hannan out Caught& Bowled and Renjith caught just inch inside the boundary line by Niyaz which was a stunning catch to dismiss him. Aziz and Ashif were at the crease and both continued scoring easily. Ashif had a cameo which was ended by Ashraf Mukka once again was caught by Niyaz once again. Eastern Arabia was playing with just 1 pacer Shijil Ahmed who had to change gears. He mixed up his deliveries to which Bin Delma had no clue. Shijil got the wicket of Sherin bowled putting Bin Delma again on back foot. Bin Delma needed “JUST” 25runs from 4 overs and with 5 wickets in hand, looked like a piece of cake to reach the target. Bharath and Aziz who were set and rotating singles easily could have made it look like an easy victory for Bin Delma.
“The match is not over until the last run is scored or the last wicket is taken” was the MOTO for Eastern Arabia Now. Shijil was asked to ball and he gave just 5 runs in the 17th over. Shijil ended up his quota with economic match winning spell 4 overs – 28runs – 1 wicket.
